Big Chill resumes its bid for an outright semifinal berth

After a two-week break Big Chill resumes its bid for an outright semifinal berth on Thursday with a crucial game against Erase Plantcenta, a team also aspiring to make the next round of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.

The Super Chargers (5-2) will be aiming for their third straight win to pull abreast with Cebuana Lhuillier (6-2), its chief rival for the second outright semifinal spot up for grabs.

Defending champion and leader NLEX, which remains unbeaten in eight games, has secured its place in the semifinal and Big Chill could join the Road Warriors in the Final Four should it wound up tied with the Gems at the end of the elimination round on the strength of the winner over the other rule.

Big Chill defeated Cebuana Lhuillier, 68-52, in their only meeting in the eliminations.

The Super Chargers and the Erasers mixed it up at 4 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. It follows the 2 o’clock duel between Café France and Boracay Rum.

Erase Plantcenta (3-4) is no longer in running for outright semifinal spot but remains a dangerous opponent because a victory would keep the Erasers in contention for a quarterfinal spot.

Café France (3-4), which shares sixth spot with Erase Plantcenta, tries to win three in a row to keep its playoff bid alive. The Bakers has an advantage over the Erasers should the two teams wound up tied.

Boracay Rum (2-5) is out of the running for a playoff spot but could spoil Café France’s quarterfinal bid.
